Some words roll across the tongue and bring forth pleasurable memories. Jamboree recalls times as a Scout.
I came to Scouting as a way to exit Manhatten and experience the landscapes of the woods. Rocks and trees, not concrete and weeds growing through the cracks.
A tree outside one of the parks was a scrubby Ailanthus pushing through some vacant lot ruble.
On weekend camping trips, you could imagine woods to the horizon. Uninterrupted by streets, apartment houses, traffic noises, trash cans, or people.
Just incredible!

Nicely done. Yep, when I saw he prompt my first thought was the BSA back in the day. 🙂
Yes, back in the day. I’m not sure that it’s the same experience now.
Not possibly the same. 🙂
Every child should be offered that opportunity. It’s something that stays with you throughout life.
