Truth. It’s such a slippery subject, and vastly over rated.
From my perspective there are two types of stories. Fairy Tales, and Sea Stories. I write Sea Stories. How do you tell the difference? A Fairy Tale begins with “Once upon a time” and ends with ” and they lived happily ever after.” By contrast a Sea Story told by a sailor starts out something like this: “OK, so this is no shit. I heard it from my buddy who was aboard when it happened.”
The formula is referred to as TINS ( this is no shit). This is the type of story I grew up hearing from family and friends. I normally start out with some true element, but I don’t let that limit me. Names and lots of circumstances have been changed to protect the guilty, innocent and bystanders.

I do not tell Fairy Tales. I tell Sea Stories.
I hope you enjoy my stories.
