Some of us live in Blogerland. It’s different than Podcastland, or the other little municipalities located adjacent to the fairgrounds occupied by Big Media – Televsion, Radio, streaming services. We are kind of like the suburbs. Actually more like a small town. Eventually you get to know your neighbors. There’s Martha, Lois, Fandango, Violet, Trev and others I know by name, or “handle” – Bushboy, VJ and so many others. Somedays the interactions are just little check marks as we like a particularly like a post the other has put up. And then there are days when conversation flows electronically between our far flung physical locations.
But favorites? I might reveal a favorite columnist at one of the news sites I read, but here in Bloggerland? These are my neighbors. I value them all for the talents they bring to their posts. Here we complain about WordPress. and their most recent efforts to debug the platform we use, the weather, poetry. Fascinating pictures, our daily lives, humor, and, yes, sarcasm.
Are we immune to the occasional revelation we should have concealed? I’ll never tell! It’s an amazingly civil community, and I’m not sure that I’d want to associate with those Riff Raff over the border in Podcastland – vicious politics, nasty competitions for viewers and their money. Not for me.
Another little plus is that everyday the community grows as new visitors whow up comment and eventually join.
