Welcome to my blog. I’m Lou Carreras, bon vivant, man about my neighborhood, anthropologist, marine woodcarver, and retired member of the fraternal brotherhood of the road – read Pius Itinerant. I write about all those things and more on the blog. I’m from New York City, but in the words of the old Mountain Men, “I’ve been to see the Varmint!”
In the day, when I was a Pius Itinerant bumming around and performing at coffeehouses, I used to introduce myself as being infamous in 15 states and jurisdictions. I often joke that I am careful about going into many clubs and bars because they may have an old “age advanced” photo of me stating Wes Carson, Banned for life. Wes Carson was the name under which I performed and committed many sins. I am duly repentant of my former ways, but find them useful for writing purposes.
In November of 1970, someone tried to terminate me, and after I finished a sojourn in exile, I repented of my wayward manners and settled into going to college, grad school, and generally living a boring existence.
About nine years ago, I started this blog. You’ll note that I am unapologetically liberal and have very varied interests. I hope you’ll find something of interest here, subscribe, and comment!
