Last night, I was in my shop fussing around, very happy and on schedule.
At this time of year, timetables are essential. I have a timetable for Christmas, one for work and one for the shop. And no, the alerts and alarms are not set to inform me when I am past due on a particular chore. Nor am I at attention waiting for the next task – time for wrapping presents!
Having a touch of attention deficit disorder means organizing things, which helps me to focus. I’m happy because things I value get done, not because things get checked off the to-do list. There’s an old saying that you should keep your eye on the doughnut, not the doughnut’s hole. With organizational schemes, it pays to keep this in mind.
Utilizing an organizational system is a means to an end, not the end itself. I had a girlfriend who was very particular about timing and organization. She finally connected with someone who coordinated perfectly with her. I was too casual. I can see them on the beach, turning to each other with great affection, smiling, and saying, “The perfect, one hour, two minutes, and thirty seconds of sunburn! It’s time to hit the shops!”
I hit the shops early, had some late coffee, and I’m trying to remember which schedule I should be on- the beach, shopping, eating? Well, let’s have a good time anyway.

I agree with you; I couldn’t function and do everything without a timetable. I enjoy marking everything off when the tasks are complete.
Happy Christmas, Lou, and thank you for taking part in our challenges.
I don’t formally organize things, at least I tell myself I don’t, but I think I actually do. Let me check my calendar and let you know
I like organized states of chaos and confusion myself, Martha.
I suppose I am a stickler on time especially at work. The normal question is how much time does it takes to process one tasks!
Well the question really is how much time does it take to process the tasks and achieve good results. I’ve known lots of workers and managers who couldn’t distinguish the difference.
Good Results exactly!
I might eat the doughnut!
Organisation is not my fortรฉ either, otherwise I would have done an update post by now. I’ve just found out that Christmas Day is this Monday and that today is Friday!
I don’t know many organised people, not for long anyway.
