The Numbers Game – #128

The number is: 745

  • Sanguinaria – blood root – it’s the earliest wildflower in my woodland garden
  • Another wildflower from my garden- Ducthman’s Breeches.
  • A rough edged cherry bowl- a piece of firewood whoose grain caught my attention it made a lovely bowl.
  • The tiny box with a carving of a persons sloop on it is the smallest size box I carve.
    • A slow day at the Salem Maritime Festival in Salem, Massachusetts.

    1. They are the flowers of the bloodroot plant ( Sanguinaria) and are the earliest flowers that I have. When they bloom, I know that spring is actually coming.

    2. Sanguinaria is a northern species. I’m not sure if they’d thrive where you are. Around here, they emerge very soon after the snow departs.

    1. A lot of plank stock is cut for consistency. But for patterning in something like a bowl, something a bit wilder can be exciting.
