For Judy’s Number Game this week here are some offerings:
The no parking sign is one of my favorites. Rockport’s Bearskin Neck has to be one of the most congested locations in the Northeast; visitors should park about a half mile away and walk to the shops on Bearskin Neck!
The small sloop portrait was a Christmas present for a friend. I n this shot the carving ( in cherry) is all done but has not been fitted to the hoop,
Trumpet flowers are a favorite part of summer. The vine goes all the way up into the canopy of the woodland garden.
I call the nautically themed bookmarks – Boatmarks.
Next is this shot of the WoodenBoat show my 10x 10 canopy is further down the way. Good times!
The cherry bowl was hollowed out from a piece of cherry cordwood. on the right-hand side, there is a small handle, and the bowl has been carbonized before varnishing it.

Does carbonized mean burned and then polished? Thanks for playing along again, Lou! I love trumpet vines as well.
Yes, carbonized does mean burnt. It is then sealed woth a food safe varnish.
Many finishes advertise being food safe, but care is needed. In the case of the finisih I use it is food safe after fully curing – 30 days. So my finishing schedule is to complete the process and then let everything cure.
Alternatively I use mineral oil (USP) and bees wax. But it is not as durable.
Those bookmarks are awesome
glad you like them. the cherry wood kind of makes them glow when oiled or lightly varnished.
