Cruise Time!

If you had a free round-trip ticket to anywhere, where would you go?

Flood my mailbox with brochures and offers for cruises! I’ll get stuporous comparing itineraries and digging into details. No crowded middle seats on flights, bad airline coffee, or waiting to be boarded from crowded “lounges”.

I got spoiled on a Holland America cruise last summer. I wasn’t very talkative with the damn viral laryngitis, so I just took it in. Despite not being in first-class health, it took an effort to keep me away from the buffet – great food and wonderful service. Our stateroom was serviced by the phenomenal Nyoman and Agus, who did everything they could to make our cruise enjoyable. We had great conversations with our new friends Doug & Carolyn, and met many interesting members of the crew.

Nope, no nostalgic trips to the locations of my youth. No flights to Hong Kong. You’ll find me watching the sun setting over the ocean and discussing our onboard evening activities with my wife. In the morning, we’ll view the itinerary for our latest port call – the cultural and historical features and look for some nice trinkets to take home to the family.

  1. An old boss of mine was talked into going on a cruise with his wife. Had never been and was not keen on it at all. Upon his return, he could not stop talking about it!

  2. I have never been on a cruise but the idea of a slow measured travel entices me so much-and I agree with the middle seat in an airline! The horrors.
