I search for the half-remembered online. Most of the half-remembering is not due to cognitive decline—I don’t think. I just wasn’t paying close attention half the time, so I only half-remember things. Something was going on of national importance, but I was busy trying to sweet talk my current girlfriend into not breaking up with me. So, when it becomes important to recall that national event, I have to recall it online.
This adds an entire dimension to nostalgia. I look it up, combine it with my recollections of the girl I was pursuing, and there it is all in one piece.
Until the internet goes out, then I’m in trouble.

Priorities! This is so true, though.
I remember the moon shot. It was mixed in with french kissing my boyfriend out on my parent’s patio and staring at the moon and my mom yelling, “Come in here, now!!!”
Ahhhh….fond memories…I was the “that Boy!!!” to many mothers. Good times.
When the internet goes out I believe there will be lots of folks in trouble. Can’t imagine life without it now.
You’re right. If we need to look something up we have no need to run to the library.
