Success – what you make of it

Last night I took a victory lap after an afternoon of carving a transom banner in the shop. I haven’t carved any lettering for a few years since surgery made small work like lettering difficult. My eyes have settled into a new normal, and I can, with optical aids, do the fine lettering work again.
Marcus, my male cat, took some time out of his busy schedule to supervise in the shop. He claims that this was the critical element that allowed me to regain an amount of skill I had lost.

For me, success is sometimes more of a lurch than a procession. I can do it, but it may not be easy and certainly will not be smooth. I clamber over obstacles, and it has been sometimes mentioned that I avoid the well-worn trail that is easily visible. I think it just has something to do with my learning style. It has always been this way.

Who do I admire when the word successful comes up? Myself and others like me for whom it does not necessarily come easy, and who have to work hard to achieve it.
I ignore those who stumble upon it, and cover themselves with glory. They don’t know anything about achievement.

Marcus says my next achievement will be getting him a snack to inspire me to make further efforts…Greenies today, kitty?
