Holiday Fare

Foodwise, I’m not too adventurous at the holidays. People I know spend the weeks leading up to the holidays reading the food pages of the newspaper in search of something new to try, perhaps roasted turbot in a piquant sauce of sauteed pecans, chocolate, anchovies, and espresso. That is not me. See my neighbor; I’ll write you the hall pass.

Not only do I not want to bother, but I don’t want to be responsible for someone getting ill on the mix of spices I made up for the pork loin fajitas with spicy roux de Brooklyn. It’s bad enough that before sending my guests on their way, I ply them with my “don’t eat and drive” fruitcake. The fruitcake makes up for the easy familiarity of the Turkeys, roasts, and such that I cook up as regular fare.

Sorry for the short post. I have to get the turkey out of the freezer, and get to cleaning the house, and add the last dose of rum to the fruitcakes.

So, no, Michelin does not visit Casa Carreras for the holidays. Go chew on that!
