Pilgrim

Daily writing prompt
What things give you energy?

A good cup of coffee is stimulating and can kick me into gear in the morning. Discussions on Pilgrim Century Theology have the opposite effect, though.

Wait! You think I am kidding about the latter? I assure you, I am not. What was her name…Dulce, Dulcet? I’ve repressed it! Yup. Talk about a way of sucking the energy out of a slow seduction on a Saturday night. You’d be sitting there holding hands and planning the next move, then she’d take a sharp right-hand departure on the topic of conversation to drone on about her favorite topic. You’d of thunk that Cotton Mather was a punk band idol the way she’d go on.

Her answer to the question of universal literacy was encompassed by familiarity with John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress. I mean, you’ve heard of the Pilgrim Fathers? Huh. They’d have had to have real determination to soldier on past that drivel.

Well, needless to say, a couple of weeks of that drained all the energy out of the relationship. She didn’t understand why I wanted to end the relationship – said things were just getting interesting. Really?

After Dulcet I took a break from romance for a few months to let my Mojo recalibrate, recharge the chakras, and generally comtemplate the dynamic balance of the universe. You know I cogitated my veritabilities!

After all, with Dulcet it was like Tom Waits said, “it was a hubba hubba and ding dang ding. I said, “Baby, you got everything.” A week later, it was a hubba hubba and ding ding dong, baby, it sure didn’t last too long.”

  1. Funny. I was writing a cool parody on “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” called “Dinners in the Pans of the Hungry Cod” — truly I was. I thought it was hilarious. I don’t like those guys at all, not one bit, got no use for them. The Swiss variety of those fuckers persecuted my people as did the British version. Nope.
