Some muses can take us around the corner to the absurd, like choosing a dinosaur that you’d like to see around today. I cogitated on this for a bit. Not a velociraptor, uh uh. and definitely not a Tyranosaur. The vegetarian dinos would eat up the grass and scare the dog. So I was a bit at a loss for an answer. Then I recalled the very early years of my misspent childhood when I’d be plopped in front of the TV to watch cartoons. My mind went back to an old cartoon show called Beany and Cecil. Beany was a little boy who had outrageous adventures with his friends on a small vessel called the Leakin’ Lena. Cecil, Beany’s buddy, was a friendly sea monster.
So there we have it. What could be more fun than a friendly sea monster?I’m posting a link to an old Beany and Cecil cartoon. It’s old, corny, and not up to modern standards, but when I watch it, I am reminded of how much pleasure it gave me when I was young.

I think of Beany and Cecil as the precursor to Calvin and Hobbes. Kind of…
I can see that.
The one that won’t eat me and is friendly but not a coward
I remembered the name but had to see it again. I would guess it was my children that watched it as I was rarely in front of a TV for most of my life. Making up for lost time now. My son had to learn to speak real English from the TV once we arrived back in the States. Which would I bring back? I’d just like to keep the Elephants on this planet. They can teach us a lot but they seem to be the current dinosaurs. Maybe alligators and crocodiles are too. Why go looking for trouble?
Oh my, scaring the dog! We can’t have that! Would HIM defend her canine brother?
HIM took aa broad view of family…much like the Julio Claudian Gens which she claimed to be descended from, However at other times she claimed to be in the direct line of descent of the cats of Charles Martel, Atila the Hun and Napoleon’s cat. We believed the Atila the Hun claim.

I tried the talk balloon you mentioned and it works for me to comment, too.
I remember watching this cartoon. Mighty Mouse was another one I recall came on with the other Saturday morning cartoons.
