In preparation for the first day of spring this tough trout lily has dared to send up it’s first bronze and green leaves. soon it’s small yellow flower will follow. Well it’s spring in New England, and we male do with small signs of progress.

Lily must be super-tough–look at that slender stem! Did you plant this or do they grow wild in your area?
They are native to the area, but my woodland garden was helped along the way because it had been badly degraded when we moved in. I seeded and planted some things, and since then, they’ve spread.
