Well, it’s Wednesday evening, and tomorrow is the big bird day. I’ve already made the cranberry sauce. Easy. And I’ve prepped the rutabaga, a tradition from my wife’s family. I’ve got the fruitcake all set (fifty-some odd years my own tradition), and at a local natural foods store, I scored some good quality halvah ( a tradition from my Hungarian grandmother and the Carreras family in general).
Tomorrow I have the bird to take up my time, but having the other stuff prepped makes life easier. I’ll recruit family members to make the salad and do the sweet potatoes. Who knows, I might even get to read some posts on WordPress!
I’m taking the time to schedule this for Thursday morning, knowing that surprises happen.
If all goes as planned after dinner, we’ll light the little Rosemary bush Christmas tree that’s our family tradition and most likely watch some sappy holiday movie.
