Yup. I’m an old Garfield fan. While I don’t think the strip has the existential punch it did in its early years, I still like it. Now, maybe that’s because when it first came out, I lived with a sarcastic, bombastic, and crazy cat named Clancy J Bumps. Clancy preferred catnip martinis, cat disco dancing, and blood sports.
Who’d want to live with a psycho cat like that? Well, I wasn’t exactly the man in the grey flannel suit either, you know. Anyhow, we’d have daily readings of what Garfield was doing over coffee for me, and catnip for him. Clancy liked these little sessions.
Maybe he just believed that there was another cat whose command of wry humor equaled his own?
