There is a Christmas gift of cashew nuts waiting for me. But I am not eating them. I’m off salty treats recently. Later, I will go out and buy some unsalted nuts to eat. It’s not that the nuts aren’t good quality and tasty, but salt seems to be everywhere in our diets, and like so many, I’m watching my diet after all the holiday season goodies. The check-in weight at the doctors was not my happiest moment.
The nuts, without salt, sweetenings and added junk, are a part of a healthy diet. But all the other stuff, yum, counters the good.
A friend once tried to convince me that the calories burnt by eating all the chewy, yummy goodies was not inconsiderable. But I noticed that the snack diet did not slenderize his waist.

Oh, the Christmas food gifts. Neighbor gave us a huge tin of dark chocolate salted caramels. Dark chocolate is the healthy chocolate, right?
Don’t ask a chocolate addict that!!! Lois!
Your last line said it all. ๐
Yup!
I admire your resolve. I have no willpower.
Lucky for me, they are too salty for my taste.
It’s amazing how over-salty processed food tastes, once you’ve stepped away for awhile. Are we chew-sy about our snacking, then?๐
I got a nice bag of roasted unsalted cashews for myself. Someone else can have the salted ones. As you said, after you’ve stepped away for a while, you notice the difference.
