Tall Tails

Daily writing prompt
Who are your favorite people to be around?

Not to be cold-hearted about Mom and Dad, or my sister, but my dog brother Max is number one. He’s paid his dues outside chasing rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks. Man, the stories he tells. Nothing beats lying by the wood stove at night and listening to the one about the squirrel cornered up the grape vine, and almost lost the tail to Max’s teeth! Wow.

Of course, he’s useless when it comes to mice…but not everyone can be a cat.

  1. Hi Marcus — Lily T. Wolf here, typing from the Enchanted Forest. Some of us dogs are GREAT — I mean WERE — great mousers. I once caught one as it jumped from the top of an armoire toward the hallway door. I caught it in the air. Our house was full of mice and that time and between me, mint, and some traps we taught them a thing or too. Keep an open mind, Marcus. As for cats, well, you’re lucky I’m where I am, I guess. Your pal, kind of, eternally, Lily T. Wolf.

  2. One can’t decide which life is harder… that of a cat or that of a dog. It’s probably a good thing that you have one another just to cover all the bases… hugs
