Just A Spoonful

Marcus: Dad was in the living room playing that thing with strings. He was playing some sad song and making noises with the low strings and oohing and ahhhing about a new bass run he’d learned. I didn’t see any basses running, and I looked. It might have been fun chasing one.

Anyhow, I figured out that he wasn’t able to uncouple himself from that guitar thing to get me a snack, so I went into the kitchen to see what I could find. There it was! The door to where the food was open just a crack. I jumped up. That bag of Greenies would be mine!

But wait! What was that? Sabrina had mentioned a big bag of prime nip earlier. Was that it? Just sitting next to the Greenies. How sweet was life! A toot, and a snack! Dad over in the next room mumbling something about getting a gig, and here I am with a bag of Maui Wowee nip, and a bag of Greenies. Talk about the sweet good life.

(Ten minutes later, lying on his back, tail splashing in the dog’s water bowl, totally smashed, my daughter dot found him.)

Ooooh man, everything is soooo green…..Don’t take that bag of nip away….nooooo….nooooooo!

This morning:

Marcus: Well, I suspect we’ll need some further testing to certify that last batch…and while you’re at the store, Dad, we’ll need some more Greenies. I couldn’t find any last night. What was I doing with the empty bag? Geee…they make the best toy! Kinda like those running basses you were playing with last night.

Whatโ€™s a moment in your life that made you feel truly alive?
