Possessions?
Well, clothes don’t make the man. And everything that I wear can easily be replaced. Those old suits in the back of the closet? Refuse from my days working for the Gov; very forgettable.
Books? Well, OK. Now, we get a bit closer to home. But, about ninety-five percent of them can be replaced through used booksellers in a week or two of fun online shopping.
Tools? Hey, keep your grubby fingers off my tools! You wanna fight! Get the hell away from there, or I will call the cops!
But before they get here, I’m gonna mess you up really bad!
Possessions? Tools are not possessions. They are special.

Very funny because this post reminds me of our garage and all the tools my husband collected over the years, that I know he will never use. I said he should get rid of them and was met with a similar reaction as you had.
Now, now, of course he may use them. You just may not be there. Try to be positive about it…the more tools the better the chance of winning the contest of who dies with the most toys.

Me too. When I moved here 9 years ago, following the advice of “How to move to a new home in a new state” I put my treasures in the vehicle I drove instead of trusting them to movers. Three boxes of art supplies. It’s not only that they are expensive and some impossible for me to replace, but I love them.
Your point about many not being replaceable is right to the point. We don’t always use something right away, or immediately. I have some holly wood that I was given in 1978, I used some right away, and I used some for miter keys on a seaman’s chest about twenty years ago, and a small bit is still remaining. I have no idea of how much it might cost me to get more if I needed it, if I could get it. You are correct in pointing this out – lots of people think you can just go to a Micheal’s and get what you want. Ain’t going to get Rawlins red at a craft’s supply store!
