The underlying problem with the concept of ” if only I knew then, what I know now” is that you probably would have looked at the old coot trying to tell you something urgently and walked on. After all, what in the world could someone over thirty know that would be worth knowing?
Now, if you looked more like a pirate and offered a map to incalculable wealth and treasure, we might have paid attention.
So listen up and pay attention! This is your older self telling you to forget about helping out the young punk! There is no possible scenario in which that idiot will stop “doing shots” and listen to you.
My advice is to head down to that nice coffee shop, have a latte, and enjoy this glorious day.
What do you mean you don’t take advice from grumpy old strangers who look like your father? You young ingrate.
To hell with you.

I’d have taken that advice at any point in my life after 27. I didn’t drink coffee before then.
