I will probably always be a big fan of Murphy, Finagle and their laws. But my favorite corollary is Hanlon’s Razor, which says, “Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”
We see how easily Hanlon’s Razor can go from a hypothesis to a proven feature. Just look at our current political landscape. That’s enough to make your lips pucker up like sour candy.
Part of the trouble is the fifth sub-corollary of Halon’s Razor- those most affected by the Razor are intelligent but not smart. They hear but do not listen. Once again, current events offer us sterling opportunities to observe this. Just tune into the news daily. This is an absolute slam dunk QED (Quod Erat Demonstratum). Very intelligent people are doing dumb things.
Would I wish to change things? Hey, fancy a world in which people actually listened, or in which intelligent people did not automatically assume that being smart went automatically with intelligence.
Dream on.

Some intelligent folks believe “they know it all”, listening to others is a waste of time.
Is there a corollary anywhere that says “ego blinds the brightest among us”?
There is the one lawyers use that says that sys for each PhD there is an equal and opposite PhD. this is in regard to expert witnesses.
That’s hilarious.
