By silly coincidence, one of my pieces is going on display at a maritime museum. And several small commissions have walked in the door. I’m also working on developing some work for the laser. The laser work won’t be very creative, but it will add some work to the shop. Chip by chip, a slow spring is turning into an active summer.
I am also finishing another schooner portrait, along with the Ada Bailey and several other portraits. My hope is to create a portfolio to start shopping for gallery representation. I would do shows, down on the coast, but not near where I live inland. I did a few last year and realized that a maritime carver is really a fish out of water in the part of Massachusetts where I live. Perhaps you heard the story about the mariner, who wishing to escape the sea, carried an anchor inland until he reached a place where they asked what it was. Yup. That’s where I live.
Every day this week, I’ve been in the shop for hours, and then return to settle a few projects in the evening. It’s sauce for the goose!

Much more than a hobby… So glad that you have a lot going on … good luck to you with the commissions and exhibitions ๐
Exciting news, Lou! Fingers crossed for you.
This is really great and very exciting! And this, “Perhaps you heard the story about the mariner, who wishing to escape the sea, carried an anchor inland until he reached a place where they asked what it was.” That’s wonderful.
