Restless

I am still getting over the double whammy of an asthma attack and pneumonia. In practical terms, I am much more sedentary than my habit. When You see your activity levels plummet and then only slowly tick upwards, it’s disturbing. I’m not the sort who sits and watches the tube endlessly. I carve, work in the garden, walk, and go to work. Resting is something I do after a full day of activity.

Even with reduced energy levels, I work – plan the next carving, put in some time in the garden, and go to work.

OK, so I provide a lap more often for the cats to watch the birds from, and the dog gets some extra scratching behind the ears. They seem to like the more sedate way to start the day. But they sense that I am restless.

We compromise. I take the cats individually on my shoulders for a pond and garden tour. Then Max gets his harness on, and we go to our local (pet-friendly) Lowe’s to tour the aisles and greet dogs and humans. Afterward, I rest a bit, and they get more lap time and scratches.

Checking my activity levels, I found that I have made some improvements. Progress comes slowly sometimes.

  1. Aw.. The iffy breathing thing (of both maladies!) can be so exhausting to the spirit. Here’s praying both those things resolve more so you can have more fun.

  2. It’s amazing how much patience these things take and even more amazing that restless spirits manage it. I hope this continues to improve, Lou.
