Don’t get me started! First thing in the morning, I wake up my siblings, Marcus and Sabina. Being that they are cats, they just have to groom themselves before early morning duty. So there I sit until the “princess,” Sabrina is happy that her tail is purrrfect. Then I hustle them to wake up Dad. What a joke. Half the time they lie down to sleep with him instead of getting him up!
I give them half an hour. Then they wander out all in a huff. “Max! Dad won’t get up, and we are desperately hungry!” Sigh. It’s Defcon Two. I barge through the door, get my tail thumping as loud as I can, and give him a solid whiff of doggy breath. If that doesn’t do it, we go to Defcon three – I lick his face, and the cats jump on him. Usually, this will do it. But sometimes…not too often…we have to escalate to Defcon four. At this level, I jump on the bed, lick vigorously, and have the cats yowl. Then we run for it. The reaction isn’t pretty.
After we have him up, it’s up to the cats to lead him into the bathroom. Then we herd him downstairs. By this time, he’s on autopilot, and I’m off to the window to watch for invading dogs.
After that, I get to lie around for a while, maintain good order and discipline, and beg for treats.
It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it!

Oh Max. Bear and Teddy are napping or they’d respond. My dogs don’t do anything like this. They wait outside my bedroom door and when I emerge they greet me with hugs and snuggles and, in Teddy’s case, kisses though I understand when dogs kiss it’s not really “kissing” but you know how we humans are. I guess your human is not just open minded but opened door. You do good work!
I get the job done! If I left it up to those cats, breakfast would be at noon! I have a reputation to maintain!
Bear here — maybe that’s why our human doesn’t have cats. Your pal forever, Polar Bear Yeti T. Dog
This had me giggling from the first sentence! The picture says it all! I’m so glad your Flurbies assist you with answering some of these prompts, Carver. … hugs
Oh, Max–you run a tight ship. Our mom and dad let us sleep on their bed, so we just gently nibble their toes–well, White Paws chomps down through the blanket on mom’s toes–but then we let her get up and view the computer and wander around the house doing ‘mom things’ before we alert her to the fact that it is breakfast time–your Florida cousins ๐ฝ
Marcus: Max is a bit too bossy sometimes. a nice snuggle sets you up for a great day!
