What’s the catch? I’ve read enough stories and watched enough TV to know that there is always a catch. Don’t get weird with me and lay it out in fancy terms about how there is no catch. In everyday life, there are almost always implications and consequences from our choices.
I mean, I win the lottery, and as soon as my tenth cousin four times removed is alerted, he wants to be my best buddy. And my deadbeat aunt in Florida needs money for an operation.
The IRS suddenly discovers that I owe them a cool million in back taxes.
I am gifted with a lovely sailboat. But then, I discovered that it had bad dry rot from years of storage.
Now I know that to deal with the evil genie, you need to have a cool head, a facility for devious thinking, and nerves of steel. All I know is that the best advice I’ve heard on that came from the knight guarding the Holy Grail in Indiana Jones:
“Choose, but choose wisely.“
