Cats Rule and Dogs Drool

A guide to forming healthy boundaries in a relationship? You’ve come to the right place. Ever since ancient Egypt, when we domesticated humans, we have struggled with this. Frankly, it’s often been a bit of a mess. Just as soon as you think you’ve struggled to the crest of the pile of blankets on the bed, the dog barges in with that great thumping tail and breaks Aunt Agatha’s china, and you get blamed. Then there is much chasing and hiding until dinner time, when you accept some sub-standard offering out of a can.

Still, the benefits outweigh the issues many times, snuggling under your own afghan atop the quilt is dandy. And having father refill the bird feeder is superb – all those titmice, sparrows, woodpeckers, and finches doing obeisance to you through the glass. Oh My!!

But you want to know about boundaries. It’s simple, all the good windows are mine, along with the left side of the bed. We get fed promptly at eight and five, and regular snacks throughout the day. Remember, no uninvited physical contact. We’ll let you know when the adoration of the cat is due!

And most important…remember the ancient rubric that has been the guidance for cat and dog relationships since the first lamplighter struggled out to light the pathway to the catnip for Princess Muffett, “Cats rule, and dogs drool!”

Now. As our human father has often told us, “Go ye forth and sin no more!”

  1. I had three cats. There main discussion was who was the chief cat, but they solved the problem themselves usually. We noticed who was the boss from the three. It was the big fat (although she said fluffly) cat and the others just followed her instructions.

  2. We have a Big chaos in the home with four, everyyear they become more jealouse. Thank you dear Lou, Have a nice day, Love, nia
