Cats – studies in excellence

The question caught us off guard. First, being cats, merely being good at something, is not in the mix. We aim to be superlative. For instance, Sabrina is following in the pawprints of our great predecessor, H.I.M. Xenia, Empress of All She surveyed. Sabrina has mastered the art of annoying Father at four in the morning. Those arias sung directly in his ear are genuinely remarkable. She feels she is ready to become a composer of her original works soon.
Marcus has mastered the stare of dread pioneered by the great grey cat of our family’s fame, Clancyโ€”the Grey Menace. Mice were known to collapse in fear just thinking of him. Marcus has had impressive initial results in practice sessions with small rodents in the yard. He rather fancies the title of Dread Lord for himself.

We find people’s interest in lists of achievements to be fascinating. Cats, on the other paw, aim for superiority, mastery, and perfection as a totality. Whether it is the art of purring in your ear at four AM, begging for food, being eternally poised and elegant, or just being general nuisances

Cats – studies in excellence that humans would do well to emulate!
