The years I did boat shows as a carver offered opportunities for some of the most interesting family vacations we had. We were almost always in some port or harbor that had interesting cultural events, shops, and activities; a sort of cornucopia for the four kids. At some point in the day, the kids would arrive at the boat show, and “help” man the booth, and sell items. Somebody who could resist a cute ten-year-old is hard to find.
The kids also provided some comic relief with their antics. While these were working vacations, we have some of the fondest memories of evenings over dinner, campfires, and our family dogs enjoying sleeping in a tent with the kids.
